DEMI GEM KITTENS
NAKED + FURRED
Sphynx * Bambino * Elf * Dwelf * AMERICAN CURL * Khao Manee
The joy of being loved by cats is amazing. Some of us love cuddling naked cats. Others love the feel of soft fur next to us. Then there are the cat lovers who love them all. For us, it’s about the unique nature of each kitten that really matters. You are at the right place if you are serious about bringing home your first or next kitten love.
Demi Gem Kittens specializes in hairless and furred kittens that are smaller and rare. We enjoy sharing our love of these exotic breeds with you. We prefer our kittens smaller than the standard and our focus is on that. We also breed for odd eyed kittens too. No matter what size, color or amount of fur, all our kittens are raised in our home and are super socialized with our entire family, including our two human children, dogs and our friends.

“Your family is crazy for pets!”
Yes we are. We love them all, naked and with fur. We even love having our feathered pets too! We just love animals! They are a joy to have around us and we love sharing our home with them. Or rather, they share their home with us.
Both Tim and I grew up with cats and dogs as kids. I was raised in New Jersey with Sam our mix hound dog and 5 cats. Our Mom was huge animal lover and always carried a leash in the car in case of strays. If there was one, it was my job to wrangle them up, bring them into the car and care for them until their families came to pick them up. It was just what we did. All the cats that lived with us came to the back door and stayed. Our Grandmother was a softy and always fed the wee ones. Of course they stayed. My favorite cat was Teddy, a gray American Short hair. He was more like a dog than a cat, very affectionate and slept with me every night. He would get under the covers and then do his yoga stretch before sleeping the entire night in bed. Tim grew up in New York with a Pomeranian named Mindy and several cats. They were not a huge part of the family but he does remember always having them. When we met, Tim had a huge orange tabby named Walter. When I say huge, I mean huge, like 23 pounds huge! He was not a cat but a mini orange liger!
So after marrying and loving life with 2 children and several doggy four legged babies, our kids started to beg me for a cat. “Please, please, please can we have a cat?” Well the only ones I could have was a hairless one as I was highly allergic to cats even though I was raised with them. I had taken weekly allergy shots for cat, dust and pollen but did not want to risk having an asthma attack by adopting a normal cat with fur. “We want a fluffy kitty, not a naked one!” Well that is what I was willing to do. After all, I adore naked dogs so why not a naked cat. But the kids and I could not agree while my husband wanted us all to be happy and for me not to suffer.
Then we moved to our new home where we have so much more room with two homes on our property. Our daughter became good friends with a school mate who has 4 cats. We went over several times and to my delight, I did not have any reactions. No runny nose, red and itchy eyes and no asthma attack! It was great having the friendlier ones come up and rub themselves on me. I petted them and gave them love which was so nice. When we finally realized I was no longer allergic to cats, my husband gave me the thumbs up to adopt a few cats.
After doing much research, because I love to do research, we found the hairless cats. We spoke to families with them and they all said the same thing: “They are more like dogs than cats.” Well that’s all I needed to hear. After all, we LOVE dogs and puppies so cats like dogs is perfect. Our kids said yes to the naked cats as long as they can have 1 with fur. So after learning as much as I could about all the breeds of hairless cats, I was most drawn to the Russian hairless cats with their dominate hairless gene. Both Tim and I know a lot about hairlessness so it all seemed to fit in. I love the lemon eyes of the Canadian Sphynx too but luck opened the door for us to adopt our first Donskoy or Don Sphynx or Russian Hairless cat, Katya, with full breeding rights. It was love at first sight! I saw her and knew we were meant to be. With her slight peach fuzz skin and slanted eyes, she was just a dream. And yes, it is true that one hairless cat is not enough. Katya and our dogs and puppies got on great so why not add more. As we love the exotic and as some people say “weird” we now have Khao Manees, gem cats of Thailand, American Curls and Sphynxs. The kids are happy because they have their fluffy cats. I am happy to be a Mom to cats, dogs and birds. My husband is happy because I am happy. My husband jokes that I am the Queen and if the Queen is happy, then everyone in the kingdom will be happy. Well this Queen is happy!
Whether you are just starting off with your first kitten or adding another one, we are here to answer your questions. We know our kittens are bred for health and are socialized to be friendly and loving around humans and other pets. We hope your kitty adventure is a wonderful one and you find your purrrrfect kitten loves.
